VentureForth's Fifth Annual
Biotechnology Entrepreneurship Conference 2008
Mission Statement: Preparing the Future of Biotech 2008
- To promote biotechnology entrepreneurship by providing an inspiring forum for the exchange of innovative ideas and the exploration of emerging trends between industry and academia.
Background: What is ABEC?
- ABEC started in 2004, with Ivor Royston as initiating speaker. Ever since the initial inception of Annual Biotechnology Entrepreneurship Conference (ABEC) in 2004, we have received many accolades from students, faculty, and industry professionals throughout the greater San Diego area. Each year, a group of inspiring thinkers and leaders in the field gather at this conference to discuss the emerging trends and issues of the biotechnology arena. Among the distinguished list of our past speakers are Ivor Royston, pioneer of San Diego biotech industry, Peter Farrell, CEO of ResMed, John Stuelpnagel, Co-founder and COO of Illumina, Charles Cantor, CSO of Sequenom, and many others. It is a gala event that attracts over three hundred attendees each year. This year will be ABEC's fifth year. Our success in the past has helped us establish a strong link to the local industry. And we look forward to strengthening this legacy of excellence.
